A New Online Home

Here it is! We have a new home, and a new name! Out with the old, in with the new....

This redesign and change has been on my mind for the better part of this year, but I could never quite pull the trigger and get going.

Mostly because I have been blogging now for over 8 years (!!!) I started my blog Joy Felicity Jane when I was in my last year at university studying Law, and needed a distraction from the endless reading and essay lists (I am the queen of procrastination if you didn't know this already!) It was in 2012 and at that point the blogging world was expanding fast, I was reading blogs daily and loved the ritual, loved how intimate and personal they felt (some of my favourites from back in the day, and still now were The Daybook, and Love Taza!)

I wanted to be creative and blogging was my answer. It allowed me to write freely, and deepened my love of photography. Joy Felicity Jane was born! This little blog of mine was the starting block of my career as a photographer and content creator, I met some of my best friends thanks to my blog, and it has brought me to where I am at today working in the health & wellness world.

So as you can imagine it was a big decision to just let go of that little piece of the internet and start fresh. I felt like maybe I was cheating on my old blog with this new website haha but I truly felt like now was the time to start fresh, I wanted the name to reflect me, and to be able to grow with me in the years to come, and be a home for all my projects.

As much as Joy Felicity Jane was and still is a part of my identity (if you don't know the story behind the name, Joy is my middle name and also my great grandmother's name, and Felicity Jane is the name of my grandmother who passed away a few years ago) I often felt like it was confusing, and people called me Joy, or Jane more often than not ;)

So here we are...! With a new home, and a new name.. well not so new, just my name (or a part of it at least! as my family name will eventually change when we get married, and M's name is about 1km long...so not very website friendly haha)

The design template is from my dear friend Hayley, the genius behind Made by Rove! She's such a brilliant designer, she creates beautiful templates for Showit, which is the new platform I am on (another reason I wanted to move, as much as I love Squarespace I was getting frustrated with the limited design options!) So this is also a learning curve for me as I've had to learn a whole new system... and all the technicalities that come with rebranding, and starting fresh with a new website!

Joy Felicity Jane is still live for now, but won't be for long anymore. The last 2 or 3 years of posts have been transferred over to this new website, and I will continue to add some of the oldies, so they still have a home (but haven't decided if I will bring it all back yet, will you miss the archives?!) JFJ will eventually just redirect to here - fingers crossed if I can figure out this whole redirecting business - and this is now officially my new home on the internet.

What's New ?

Have a little look around, all your favourite pages are still here I hope...

The blog page has categories to make it easier to find your favourite recipes for example. All latest vegan recipes are on the blog, let me know if there's something you can't find!

We've still got a shop page with my favourites edit, divided in categories like "Home", "Beauty", "Wear" and you can also access my Amazon front page from there too! (the shop links are all affiliate links, but products I love and use, or things that are on my personal wishlist..!)

In "Services" you can learn more about how we can work together, my one-on-one coaching structure and pricing has changed a little bit, you can now book me for a one-off one hour call, and from there decide how long you'd like to work together, booking monthly increments. I felt like this was less intimidating for people who are new to health coaching, and perhaps wanted to dip their toes in the water before committing to a 3 or 6 months program (which are still available when requested!) I hope it makes sense, let me know what you think!

We do have one new and very exciting feature which I am testing out, in the hope to make it a bigger feature in the future : a Community Forum!

For a while now I've felt like we needed a better place to be able to share, chat, and support each other in a much more direct and intimate way. Because let's be honest, Insta is great but DMs get lost, and it's not as personal and private as I'd like it to be! I want this to be a safe space for you to share with others, communicate, meet other likeminded individuals and find inspiration.

So I am trying out this new app called Geneva, all you need is to download it on your phone following this link, to join my group where you'll find different "rooms" which all have different subjects like motherhood, must-read-books, veganism, recipe sharing, community questions, it even has a spot for all things dog and furry friends related! It's all a bit empty at the moment, but join in and start sharing the love! (the app is free to access, let me know what you think!) I think it could be really fun and special..!

As I am testing this out, I'd love to have your feedback on it, we can create more "rooms" and try different things out, it will also be a great place for me to hear your feedback on what you'd like to see more of!

The newsletter will be back in full force in the new year after a long break, do sign up if you haven't already (scroll at the bottom of this post for the subscribe box!), in my monthly letters I share tips and recipes, as well as any updates/discounts. I won't flood your inbox I promise, and you can always opt-out if it's not your thing :) when you sign up you do get a little freebie...: my Free Guide to Going Plant-Based full of all the info I wish I knew when I first transitioned to eating a whole foods plant-based diet.

More little features will come out in the new year, but I hope you like it so far! Do let me know if you notice any quirks and anything that isn't working quite properly... I'm a one-woman show here, with no tech team haha so I'm sure I've missed some things!

As always, I am grateful you're here, thank you for all of your support and love through the years. I know some of you have been sticking around for 8 whole years and that just blows my mind. I love you all!!
